The R-XX-7: The Cost

I have received several messages from people wanting to know how much my little automotive adventure cost. I'm sure that those people now think I'm a rotten ratsa$$, since I gave the following reply:

"As I said in an earlier post: I don't wanna talk about it."

However, I will say you could buy a real nice 3rd gen for less money. The sane way to go is to put TII innards in the convertible. With off-the-shelf mods, it will be a real quick car for less cost."

Let me state this for the record - I _really_ don't wanna talk about it.

FWIW, the costs are not yet over. Those of you who have read my earlier posts may recall that I have said I may have to go for fender flares and much wider tires. After a little "empirical study", I have learned that the new-found level of boost will break the rear wheels loose and turn the car sideways at 55 mph. It's fun, but I think a little more rubber on the road would be a real fine idea.

Also, it appears I may owe Peter Farrell an apology. I had made some snippy remark in a previous post about my normal driving didn't include repeated stops from 100 mph. I was pulling onto the freeway and watching my left mirror to safely merge with traffic, as most folks would. When I was safely ensconced in my lane I noticed two things in quick succession.

1) A tractor-trailer rig appeared to be backing up in that lane. 2) The speedometer was at 117 and climbing.

RED ALERT! RED ALERT! ALL HANDS BRACE FOR IMPACT! HELM, TAKE EVASIVE MANUEVERS! ENGINE ROOM, FULL STOP!

I may be in the market for a big brake kit.

I can't, in good conscience, recommend this path to anyone. It's a lot of money, time and effort. The results are marvelous, but it's way past the level of insanity that is the norm even for this group.
