I've received a number of requests for information about my project.
Those of you who heard Peter Farrell's talk at MADS already know most of this. My 20B will be like his 20B, except for the Electromotive Engine Management Systems. Peter's red car has Tec 1s; mine will have Tec 2s. As he said, there are two--one for the primaries and one for the secondaries. It takes two computers to tune the car.
The 20B is relatively understressed in stock configuration. The exhaust ports are smaller than a 13B-rew.
Peter stated that the previous two 20Bs were in pretty good shape when they were torn apart and that a rebuild might not be absolutely necessary. We discussed whether or not to rebuild mine. Being a firm believer in the immutable law of the great and omnipotent god, Murphy, I elected to rebuild. Mine would be the one that needed it. I know this. Since it's being rebuilt, I elected to replace the stock rotor housings with those from a 13B-rew, which takes care of the exhaust port problem mentioned above.
As for the turbos, Peter has already been talking to me about an upgrade. I assured him I would get back to him when the thrill is gone and I needed an upgrade to rekindle the excitement :)
If you've seen a 3rd gen with all the PFS goodies, you have a good idea what my convertible will look like. Everything will be polished aluminum and/or powder-coated metal. The engine compartment will look a little over-full. The battery was banished to the back of the car.
That's about all there is to tell. The car should be ready in about 10 days, absent any surprises. I was disappointed that the car wasn't ready for MADS. After watching the Pettit 3-rotor rocket past my wife's 3rd gen and two others on the main straight, I was _really_ disappointed. It's a little depressing to be driving a car you think is fast and have another go by like you're sitting still.
