We also got to meet with a friend, Jeff from the Boulder-Brooktree facility. It was then that we got the news about Brooktree's buyout by Rockwell that day...whoa! Unfortunately, we forgot to bring the digital camera when we met with Jeff at the Walnut Brewery, so we couldn't get any pictures...sorry, Jeff (yeah...I know...you'll probably get over it).
One interesting point of our trip was the blackout that occurred on Tuesday afternoon. Boulder was one of the hardest hit areas of the power outage that supposedly hit areas of 17 states throughout the Western US. Since it was already incredibly hot (about 95), the blackout made things worse as there was no AC for the entire afternoon from about 2:30 to 6:00 pm. It was really interesting as lots of people were just hanging out along the sidewalks of Pearl Street since it was too hot to be inside. Reportedly, Ben & Jerry's gave away free ice cream since it was melting away. Unfortunately, we missed that. Bummer.
Boulder is an extremely cool town! We really enjoyed everything about it, from the restaurants in the Pearl Street pedestrian mall, to the hiking just west of town, to the microbreweries and brewpubs scattered throughout. This was more of a relaxing stop for us rather than a sightseeing stop. You'll see that the pictures in the album reflect that.
