John's Impressions

Glacier National Park is really spectacular and really worth seeing. The ice age glaciers did some really great work here with steep snow-capped rock precipices and beautiful milky-green lakes.

The park is huge, but has very few roads so the only way to see alot of it is to hike it. But, with the Grizzly Bear danger, this is sometimes scary. We were scared as we embarked on our first hike so we opted to go on one of the many Ranger-led hikes. The ranger really showed us how to avoid bear confrontation by making lots of constant noise while hiking to allow the bears to hear you coming and flee before a confrontation occurs. We felt alot better about hiking after that.

Since the park is so large, we could not possibly see everything we wanted to see in the two days we had alloted. This was a bummer, but we had to move on to see Conrad and Sherry in Idaho (which was not a bummer). We'll definitely need to go back sometime to see more. Glacier was great!
