Brenda's Impressions

Brenda's Impressions

Invited by Chief Henry Standing Bear to create a monument to American Indians, sculptor Korczak Kiolkowski moved to South Dakota in 1947 to begin work on the Crazy Horse Monument. After decades of blasting away at the mountain, the face of Crazy Horse is now visible. The work will continue in this non-profit, private project well into the next century.

The Black Hills of South Dakota are remarkable in the variety of sights and activities that are available. A short drive from the Crazy Horse Monument, you can view Mt. Rushmore, Custer State Park with its large herds of buffalo, enormous caverns and mammoth bone excavation sites.
