“Ace”, as we call him, earned his name, "Fly So Free", as his movement is extreme, fluid and beautiful. He is high withered and has a tremendous back and topline (hard to find in the breed today). He carries a very short, dense coat. He has medium bone and medium substance. He has a good bite and full mouth. His is a stubborn dog, but his temperament is good. "Ace" is OFA good Hips and Elbows. We had the honor of having "Ace" appear in the 1996 GSDCA Red Book as a top producing stud dog, an honor attained with animals from his first 3 litters.
Ace’s is best known as the sire of, 1996 US Grand Victrix, Am/Can. Sel. Ch. Inflight’s Heaven Only Knows TC, OFA, HIC. Other progeny of note are:
He has proven to us that he is dominant for producing many things, most of all his beautiful motion. Additionally, his progeny are exceedingly stylish, most carry his high wither and excellent topline. He is very dominant for strong, rich color. He produces Bi-Colors on a frequent basis. He may or may not carry the black gene factor. He has not produced any long coats or off colors to date. To date he as produced 11 litters.
Ace's pedigree is exceptionally strong for producing many, many good attributes lacking in the breed today. On the negative side (Attention Breeders... not many of you do this... I tell the truth about my dogs... and I do it for the benefit of the breed! If this means that folks don't breed to this dog or any of my dogs... it is their loss, and I'll see you in the ring with some awesome stuff), some of his male puppies tend to be slow to drop one testicle. When linebreeding very closely on Andretti, we have had 2 puppies with heart murmurs and he has produced one other with a heart murmur from another bitch. There has been one with an esophagus and one puppy who’s unconeal process was shattered at 4 months (from an injury). Some of his puppies may appear to be weedy at a young age, but with time grow into exceptional specimens. Time is all that is needed with many of them. While this list might sound long or saddening, it is here so that if you are considering using this dog on your bitch, know your pedigree to know what potential pitfalls, this or any combination of breedings you may do.
Also, a note on stubborness. It is apparent that some of his progeny do carry his stubborn trait. This in itself is not a tremendously good quality, however, it appears that if the breeder is smart and works with the animal, you will be rewarded with a VERY bonded and willing dog. This trait also seems to be associated with his "pick" progeny, the benefit from this trait is that while they are younger and you are working through it, it is a pain in the kiester. However, once you have worked through it, the strength of character these dogs have and desire to please you (because they bond so strongly) makes them INCREDIBLE SHOW DOGS!
The ideal bitch for “Ace” is one that is of upper medium to large size (by size... I DO NOT mean tall... I am referring to substance), that also carries a plush coat. She should be needing correcting in style, topline and rear angulation. Pedigree to date has not made much difference, as we have both outcrossed and linebred on his pedgree, but the puppies look like the could be from the same litter. Although he has good ears and has produced good ears, we do not recommend him to correct ears. The old fashioned, “Honkin’” brood bitch, is generally the perfect bitch for “Ace”.
One other very important note to breeders. "Ace" progeny not only are good animals themselves, THEY PRODUCE GOOD ANIMALS! As of this writing, there are several wise breeders reaping the benefits of the beautiful animals sired by "Ace" that are now, themselves producing exceptional progeny. This to me, means that the strength and quality "Ace" is as a stud dog is something to be proud of. The mark of a true producer... a dog who produces great progeny that can also produce great progeny! At Inflight, we are very Proud of Ace and his abilities as a stud dog.
