Kahuna notes:
Hey, we've go sun today.
Great... except it's in the 20s. Oh well. Me and the Kahunette
went out for breakfast and then rode to Hawk Island Lake to soak
up some sun. We also took a little walk by the lake - frozen
over, of course. ... And now, the Winter Weekend Sports
Update: The College Bowl games are winding down. As I mentioned
yesterday, the #18 Michigan State football team (9-4) lost the
Capital One Bowl to #15 Georgia (10-3) 24-12 after leading the
first half 6-3. State turned in a decent performance, but was snafued by their offensive coordinator's crappy and predictable
play calling. So far this season, the BigTen is 0-6 in bowl
games. Brutal. In pro football, the playoffs start this weekend.
Today it's Atlanta (11-5) at Arizona (9-7) at 4:30pm on NBC,
then Indianapolis (12-4) at San Diego (8-8) at 8:00pm on NBC. On
Sunday its Baltimore (11-5) at Miami (11-5) at 1:00pm on CBS,
then Philly (9-6) at Minnesota (10-6) at 4:30pm on FOX. Today
the #10 MSU basketball team (9-2) travels to Northwestern (8-3)
for a game at 7:00pm (no TV scheduled). Sunday, #23 Michigan
(10-3) hosts Illinois (13-1) at 12:00pm (no TV scheduled).
Sunday the Pistons (20-11) travel to the Clippers (8-24) for a
3:30pm game (no TV scheduled). Detroit (20-11) is now 6 ½ games
behind Cleveland (27-5) in the EC Central. In the CCHA the
Michigan State Hockey team (3-8-2-2, 6-12-3 overall) is still in
the cellar with just 10 points and the CCHA conference leader,
Notre Dame, has 24 points. Tonight, the Red Wings (25-7-5)
travel to Minnesota (18-16-2) for a 8:00pm game (no TV
scheduled). The Wings (25-7-5) are in first in the WC Central
with 55 points - ahead of second place Chicago (20-8-7) with 47
points. ... Tomorrow we're suppose to get some
precipitation, and with the temp forecasted to crest 32°, we
might get some freezing rain too. Damn. Welp, both me and the
Kahunette are watching our holiday vacations wind down. It's
back to work on Monday, so enjoy the weekend ;)

BigKahuna's Weekend Movie Review:
Marley and Me starring Owen Wilson, Jennifer Aniston,
Alan Arkin, Eric Dane and Haley Bennett. Now here's a surprise:
a dog lovers movie with a twist - it follows the life of a puppy
that's brought home by a young married couple and along the way
tells the story of the marriage and family life of the young
couple. Here's the shamelessly ripped off Yahoo synopsis: "An
ambitious young reporter, John Grogan (Wilson), and his wife,
Jenny (Aniston), also a reporter, move to a south Florida, buy a
house and adopt a Labrador puppy they name Marley. Marley
quickly becomes a rollicking force of nature in their lives."
Oh, and the movie is a unashamed tearjerker - it goes after
every tear it can jerk. There's no denying the movie has a
heart. Wilson and Aniston turn in good performances. All in all
a very enjoyable family film. Kahunette gives it 2 hankies, I
give it 7/10.
