"An artist creates his audience." -Marshall McLuhan
When you create a new WWW site the world needs to know. Use these directories, malls, sites of the day, lists and search engines to provide links to your home page. These are the listkeepers, editors and other fun folks who are hungry for exciting new sites like yours. Links to their registration pages or mailto's are sometimes available.
Or you can use this list just for surfing and searching.
Directories generally uneditted list of Internet sites. The organization of the directory depends on the type of directory.

Malls generally are Internet sites of various companies with products and goods for sale. Transactions are either online or using other direct communications.
Sites of the Day generally provide a new site to preview every day. The
criteria varies greatly and sometimes the frequency is not daily. The date the
service started is [indicated].

Search Engines generally allow you to enter one or more keywords to find matching sites. Some sites tap into other search engines. A new breed requires little or no input and sends you to a random site. [more work needs to be done on this section: define the type of engines??]

These lists are developed by notable Web sites. Generally these are print publication sites, frequently cited sites, award sites and sponsored sites. Cracking one of these lists will not be easy.
Besides getting links to your site, there are other types of promotions available including clothing, contests and more.
Other people have put together lists like this one you are using.
These section is scheduled to be eliminated from this page. Other sites do a much better job than I even want to.
